The EST (a standardized admission test) that is scored electronically and is owned by Academic Assessment Ltd. in London. It is validated by the EST Board in the USA and is specifically designed to measure the skills and knowledge students have acquired.
The newly developed EST aims to prepare American diploma students for admission to higher education institutions. The EST assessment suite comprises EST I and EST II. Created, reviewed, and administered by a panel of experts from five continents, the EST follows a stringent authoring process that includes several validation stages. Additionally, it utilizes automated grading and reporting methods to ensure objectivity and eliminate bias.
The EST aims to provide a modern and sophisticated assessment experience, featuring two components: EST I and EST II.
EST I consists of four mandatory sections: Literacy 1, Literacy 2, Math without Calculator, and Math with Calculator. It evaluates essential communication skills, comprehension, critical thinking, and logical reasoning—key competencies for university students. An optional essay section is also available to assess students' writing abilities.
EST II is a subject-based test, covering areas such as Math, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, World History, Literature, and Economics, with each subject test administered separately. EST II measures foundational scientific knowledge, scientific reasoning, and higher-order thinking skills, demonstrating a student's readiness for specific majors in engineering, science, and healthcare. The choice of subject tests aligns with the majors students are applying for.
The EST is an Egyptian entrance exam specifically for applicants to Egyptian universities, and its results are not currently accepted for applications to non-Egyptian institutions. Most students pursuing an American Diploma typically apply to Egyptian universities, and all national Egyptian universities recognize the EST. However, private universities may have different policies, so it’s important to check directly with the specific university to which you plan to apply. Additionally, the EST Board is actively working with international bodies to have the exam certified for recognition outside of Egypt.
